Dr. Nayan Mitra is an international expert in sustainability, CSR, and corporate governance. Her company, Sustainable Advancements (OPC) Private Limited, is women-led and primarily focuses on supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through engagement and implementation. Under her leadership, the organization has developed into a leading holistic institution with both national and international recognition in CSR coaching, consulting, and research—such as the first Women@Work study conducted in collaboration with the Aspire For Her Foundation, where she also serves as a mentor for SDG 5.

In addition, Nayan Mitra is the founding president of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sustainable Businesses Council. Her numerous publications in the CSR series by Springer—including Corporate Social Responsibility in India: Cases and Development after the Legal Mandate (2017), Mandated Corporate Social Responsibility: Evidence from India (2019), and Corporate Social Responsibility in Rising Economies: Fundamentals, Approaches and Case Studies (2020), some co-authored with René Schmidpeter—further highlight her work.

Dr. Mitra has received several prestigious awards, including the “Author Award” at the Indian CSR Leadership Summit in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She is also recognized among the 25 most influential CSR leaders in India and was honored with the “Exceptional Woman of Excellence” award at the Women Economic Forum in 2019.
